All across the Christian world today, literally millions of children will awaken, go downstairs, and take part in a tradition dating back to the 1500’s. That’s when Martin Luther organized egg hunts for his parishioners on Easter. And it’s still alive and well today. Except that today, the eggs aren’t usually hard boiled. They’re candy. And kids scarf down the second most amount of candy they get in a single day all year…the most being Halloween of course.
But that’s not what makes today special.
Today is special. In fact, if you’re a Christian, today is the day that we celebrate WHY we’re Christian. This was the day that Jesus Christ, our Lord & Savior, rose from the dead. It is the most important day on the Christian calendar, even more important than Christmas. Because without today, the whole reason for being a Christian disappears.
